Product Overview
The Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III shotgun represents an elegant evolution of the Silver Pigeon I, designed to meet the needs and desires of shooters looking for the reliability of the 680 platform presented with attractive aesthetics and a superior wood finish. The fine engraving is made with state-of-the-art 5-axis laser technology and is embellished by a special sparkle in the bas-relief areas, which creates a pleasant contrast effect. The floral motifs and evocative game scenes are highlighted with pheasants and partridges. The exquisite gloss finish enhances the grain of the stunning class 2.5 wood and protects it from rain and improves longevity. All these features are combined with the excellent ballistics guaranteed by the Steelium Optima Bore HP tri-alloy steel barrels.
The 687 Silver Pigeon III is the shotgun for those who want a game scene shotgun with classic looks, quality and elegance, without sacrificing the legendary reliability and minimal maintenance requirements of the 680 platform. The pistol grip stock, available with a 35/55 drop, and forend are made from selected class 2.5 walnut wood and covered with a lustrous gloss finish that is resistant to rain and humidity and highlights the precious wood grain. The stock and forend are also finely chequered for an improved grip. The 20mm MicroCore butt pad ensures a comfortable and accurate shouldering as well as a safe, stable support when shooting.
The 687 Silver Pigeon III’s receiver, which is derived from the legendary 680 series, features a slim, elegant shape characterized by the tried-and-tested locking system with iconic trapezoid shoulders and dual conical locking lugs. The fine engraving with game scenes, combined with a modern floral motif, reproduces a theme created by the Beretta’s master engravers and extends to the bottom of the receiver, where the shotgun model and the Beretta logo are shown. The engravings are created using state-of-the-art Beretta technology, namely a 5-axis laser, capable of engraving rounded surfaces while maintaining perfect continuity in the design and reproducing, even in bas-relief areas, a precious contrast effect that typically characterizes premium shotguns. The top view of the shotgun boasts a particular finish that highlights the new key engraving and the elegant design on the action frame and on the receiver shoulders that is aligned with the motif on the junction of the upper barrel.
The gun features a gold-colored single selective trigger. The selector is located on top of the safety tang, allowing the user to select the barrel for the first shot with a simple, rapid sideways movement. The ultra-reliable and sturdy ejection system is the tried-and-tested version used on the 680 platform. This venerable platform boasts more than a million guns in use over the course of more than 30 years. The 687 Silver Pigeon III features the famous Beretta Steelium barrels in tri-alloy steel, characterized by deep drilling, cold hammer forging and vacuum relieving. The special geometry, with its 80-millimeter double forcing cone, is designed to offer outstanding performance and always perfect and uniform patterns, reducing at the same time felt recoil. The 6×6 windowed top rib with accurate, anti-reflective checkering and a spherical steel front sight is a clear reference to the most exclusive Beretta over-and-under shotguns.
